Missing student found dead

Imphal, October 21 2011:
A 12-year old boy student who was reported missing after he left for school in the morning of October 19 was found dead this morning in a bush inside CI College campus.
A student of class VI in Bishnupur Public School, Mutum Jewel alias Manichandra (12) s/o Mutum Manitomba and Mutum Ongbi Dhanapati of CI College Road, Bishnupur Ward no.8 under Bishnupur Police Station was reported missing after he left home for school at around 8.30 am on October 19.This morning around 11:30 am his lifeless body was found inside a bush inside the CI College campus.
When Manichandra, the only child of his parents, failed to return home yesterday, his parents lodged a complaint with the school authority only to be told that Jewel did not come to the school.
Subsequently, a missing report was filed with Bishnupur police station and a massive search was carried out by the local people.
On receiving news about the body of the missing boy being recovered, many higher officials of Bishnupur police rushed in for inspection.
As a thorough spot investigation was pertinent in view of the manner the missing boy was found dead, a magisterial inquest had been ordered.
A team of officials from Forensic Science was also present during the inquest.
The young victim was found lying prostrate with his face on the ground and froth coming out from his mouth.
Blood was also seen coming out from one of his ears.
He was wearing the school uniform intact but the school bag was found lying little further off.
A bottle of ink remover and a dendrite cover were recovered nearby.
The ear-rings were found missing.
With the exception to insect bites at one or two spots, there were no injury marks in any parts of his body.
According to police, the victim attended the school only twice after the exams this month as per the record maintained in the attendance register and it has been found out that one of his close friends, who studies in Brighter Academy, Oinam, is also very irregular in his attendance.
One Wahengbam Shivadas, his class teacher, informed that Manichandra was very good-natured though not very bright in study.
Shivadas also ruled out the possibility of Manichandra abusing drugs.
Father of the victim, who came to identity his son, fainted on seeing the lifeless body of his only child.
Mother also fainted on hearing the news about the death of her son.
Both of them were admitted to Bishnupur District Hospital for necessary medical attention.
Meanwhile, Kangleipak Students' Association and AIYF Bishnupur District Council have strongly condemned the killing of the school going boy.
