Imphal, July 21 2014:
Even as passenger bus services along Tiddim Road have been suspended from yesterday, transport operators on other routes have announced to follow suit from July 23 if the Government fails to put Transport Inspector Dina under suspension by tomorrow.
Speaking at a joint press conference held at the office of All Manipur Road Transport Driver's and Motor Worker's Union, Joint Action Committee Bus Owners Association Tiddim Road general secretary B Dhanabir said that even after Transport Director's directive, Transport Inspector Dina has not taken any action against those who were caught handed with fake passenger service permit.
Protesting Dina's inaction, passenger bus services on other routes would be suspended from July 23 if he is not sacked by tomorrow.
He said that after they caught four passenger vehicles which were operating service using fake passenger service permits on July 8, they met Transport Minister and Transport Director on July 10 .
During the meeting, they demanded the Minister to take action against the owners of these buses.
However, even after Transport Director had directed Transport Inspector Dina, no action has been initiated so far, he added.
He also demanded that Dina be replaced by another competent person as Transport Inspector.
Bus Owners Union, Manipur president Radhamohan said that they have been checking use of fake permits from May 22 .
