Workshop / exhibition on 'Innovations in Food Processing' begins

A two-day workshop cum exhibition on "Innovations in Food Processing" kicked off today at the premises of Directorate of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal in Lamphelpat on the occasion of National Technology Day 2024.The workshop cum exhibition was organised by the College of Food Technology (COFT), CAU, Imphal in collaboration with Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur.
The inaugural function was graced by CAU, Imphal, Vice Chancellor, Dr Anupam Mishra; COFT, CAU, Imphal, Dean, Prof Ng Iboyaima Singh; Thangjam Agro Industries Pvt Ltd (Likla), Managing Director, Thangjam Joykuirnar Singh; Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Director, Dr K Debadutta Sharma; Director of Instruction, CAU, Imphal, Dr Indira Sarangthem; Director of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal, Dr Ph Ranjit Sharma; Director of Research, CAU, Imphal, Dr LM Gamayak and Registrar, CAU, Imphal, Dr TR Singh as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anupam Mishra said that locally available fruits, spice, vegetables, etc in fresh and processed forms are being showcased in the exhibition.
He asserted that the exhibition will provide a platform to young entrepreneurs to display their products and gain valuable knowledge about marketing, packaging, etc.
Prof Ng Iboyaima stressed on the importance of food processing industries and added that the food industry is a sustainable industry in Manipur.
He also shared that a Food Mela having more than 34 stalls is opened to the public during these two days for sale and purchase from 2:00 pm onwards.
As part of the function, a technology bulletin and a .memento of National Technology day were also released.
