Training programme on integrated farming begins

A five-day training programme on 'Integrated Farming System with special reference to livestock production for empowerment of farm women' began at Central Agriculture University (CAU), Lamphelpat on Wednesday.
The opening function of the training programme, which is being organised by CAU Directorate of Instruction in collaboration with Samvardhinee Nyas Manipur Prant, a wing of Rashtra Sevika Samiti, was attended by CAU vice chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra and Samvardhinee Nyas Manipur Prant convener Indira Oinam as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anupam praised Manipuri women and noted that
when other parts of India are talking about women empowerment, women of North East states especially in Manipur are already taking the lead in all sorts of works.
On the other hand, Indira Oinam said that
the training is being conducted as part of its campaign for women empowerment and many such programmes will be organised to strengthen the identity of women of the state.
On the opening day of the training programme which is being participated by women farmers from various districts, experts spoke on various aspects of integrated farming system, scientific rearing of cattle and dairy production along with pig farming.
