Drug peddlers arrested by NCB and BSF

Imphal, January 20 2019:
Two drug peddlers were arrested along with 10.3 kilograms of opium from Patlien village, Churachandpur district by a joint team of Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) and Border Security Force B SF- G Branch today.
According to a reliable source, acting on specific information about the sale of contraband items in Patlien village, a joint team of NCB and BSF rushed to the village and raided some suspected houses.
During the raid at the residence of one Thongkholun Haokip (60) s/o (L) Hemjadou Haokip, the team recovered some drugs.
Based on his discloser, the joint team raided the residence of another man identified as Joseph Hlanghal (49) of the same village and recovered more contraband items.
During the raid, the joint team was able to recover and seize 10.3 kilograms of opium which was sourced from illegal poppy cultivation in Bishnupur area.
Both the arrested individuals were arrested under the NDPS Act and they will be produced before the Court concerned.
Further investigation is underway to arrest other co accused as well as to identify the location of the said illegal poppy plantation, the source continued.
