Rs 12 crore for mid day meal marked

Imphal, December 19 2017: The State Government has sanctioned around Rs 12 crore to the School Education Department for the mid day meal programme .

According to an official source of the School Education Department, the sanctioned amount (Rs 12 crore) consists of Rs 4 crore for the last two financial years (2015-16 and 2016-17) and Rs 8 crore for the current financial year 2017-18 .

The source pointed out that the State Government currently has a total fund of around Rs 46 crore, including the amount it failed to sanction during the last two financial years as well as the amount sanctioned by the Central Government for the current financial year .

Only Rs 8 crore out of the total Rs 12 crore sanctioned by the State Government, can be utilised by the School Education Department, the source added.
