New norm in place for fuel supply

Imphal, November 19 2011:
A new norm would be in place from tomorrow at the time of issuing fuel to the public in all the oil pumps of Imphal East and Imphal West district.
Announcing this while talking to media persons in his office chamber today, Director of Consumers' Affairs, Food and Public Distribution M Yaiskul informed that fuel would be issued to people who have proper documents of their vehicles.
The step has been taken up to ease the problem of shortage of fuel in the state.
The officer explained that for people who have documents of their vehicles in the form of smart cards or in laminated form, slips would be provided for supplying fuel.
A copy of the slip is to be submitted to the oil pump while another would be provided to the vehicle owners concerned.
On these slips, the details related to registration number of the vehicles, the names and addresses of the vehicle owners, the quantity and the date on which the fuel was supplied would be recorded.
A vehicle owner would be allowed to come for filling fuel only after three days from a particular oil pump.
Similarly, for those with ordinary vehicle documents, seal would be stamped at the time of issuing fuel, the Director informed, adding that mobile teams of the department would be deployed to check vehicles which have already been.

On the quantity of fuel to be supplied, the Director said that 10 litre of petrol would be issued to four-wheeler vehicles, 8 litres to three-wheleers and 5 litres to two wheelers.
As for diesel, 40 litres would be issued to passenger buses and 25 litres to trucks.
Vehicles like Tata Sumos in passenger services would be provided 15 litres.
