Imphal, September 19 2015 :
Naoriya Pakhanglakpa constituency MLA RK Anand has rubbished the theory that the recent three bills passed in the State Assembly were morally culpable of the current trouble in the hill districts.
Participating as the Chief Guest at the first anniversary celebration of the Langthabal Phura Makhong, Nambul Mapal Nupi Samaj Welfare Committee, RK Anand claimed that the trouble and the killing of young people in the hills were prompted by other elements and not the three Bills.
He insisted that some individuals had fomented the tension in the hills following the passing of the three bills aimed at safeguarding the indigenous people.
The Congress MLA said the Government should not dither to bring all rumour mongers to book, whose acts had led to the eruption of violence in the aftermath of the clearance of the bills by the Manipur Assembly on August 31 .
RK Anand also rubbished the allegations that representatives from the hills were not consulted by the State Government before passing the bills.
All culprits behind the spread of communal hatred that had claimed several lives should be given stringent punishment, Anand demanded.
He made it clear that the bills do not contain any points that harm the interests of the hill people.
These rumour mongers are attempting to blot the image of the Meetei community which is not a communal group at all, Anand stated.
He said that no leaders from other States have the right to interfere in Manipur's affairs whatever the nature of the situation.
He cautioned the Prime Minister and Centre's interlocutor for Naga talks RN Ravi that they should act carefully and that the Chief Ministers of Nagaland and Mizoram should not get involved in something that does not concern them.
