Kangpokpi decries abduction of workers

Locals of Kanglatongbi today staged a sit-in-protest decrying the abduction of two road workers by some suspected Kuki militants from Kanglatongbi area on January 17 .
The sit-in was organized jointly by Kanglatongbi Gram Panchayat, Luwangsangol Village, Phailang Village, All Meira Paibee Apunba Lup, Kanglatongbi, All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union, All Clubs of Kanglatongbi and Ismashan Ghat Samiti, Kanglatongbi.
The protestors appealed to all concerned to release the abducted workers as soon as possible and not to repeat such unwanted incident at Kanglatongbi area in the future.
It may be recalled that two workers identified as Thongam Santa (54) of Moirang and Maibam Tomba (35), s/o Mangi of Thoubal Nepra Company were abducted by some suspected Kuki militants from their workplace at Inter-Village Road near Kanglatongbi Mandir under Sekmai Police Station at around 9 pm on January 17 .
Police said that the search would continue to find out the whereabouts of the two workers who are believed to have been abducted for ransom.
