Dingko sent to jail

Imphal, January 17 2014 :
Boxing Coach and Asian Games gold medalist Ngangom Dingko Singh, who was arrested by police yesterday in connection with the assault case of a young weightlifter at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in the evening of January 13, was sent to jail by Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West today.
Ngangom Dingko, s/o (late) Iboton of Sekta Mayai Leikai was brought to the Court of CJM, Imphal West at Cheirap Court Complex, Uripok at around 3.30 pm amidst heavy security.
An FIR no.20 (1) 2014 PS Lamphel under section 354, 324, 23 of JJ Act was registered against him.

The accused Dingko applied for bail, but the CJM rejected the bail application considering the gravity of the crime he has been charged with.
After hearing the counsels of both parties, the CJM remanded Dingko to judicial custody till January 31 .
The victim identified as Aranbala (17) of Moreh Ward No.6 is still in a critical condition at Shija Hospital, Langol.
Meanwhile, various sports associations of the State including Manipur Rifle Association and All Manipur Gymnasium Welfare Association (AMGWA) have condemned the brutal act of assaulting a woman weightlifter by boxing coach Ngangom Dingko at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
