Prominent Liangmai figure, NK Sying passes away

Prominent Liangmai figure, NK Sying, who was the Bible translator of Liangmai passed away in the wee hours today.
He was 74.NK Sying was rushed to a hospital in Imphal on Monday after he was hit by a vehicle at Kanglatongbi area.
He succumbed to injuries at round 2 am today.
In its condolence message, Liangmai Naga Council (LNC) said the contributions of NK Sying to the Liangmai society, "especially in Christian literature shall remain in our hearts in all generations to come".
The LNC also said that the Council was saddened immensely by the sudden demise of NK Sying.
"He was a stalwart and a distinguished figure of the society," said the LNC.
The Liangmai body shared the pain and grief of the family members.
NK Sying was born on October 25, 1944 at Tapon village.
He passed matriculation in 1969 in Kohima.
He did B.Th degree in 1973 from Jorhat, Assam and then completed Bachelor of Divinity from Serampore College, West Bengal.
Since 1978 NK Sying was actively involved in translation and distribution of the Holy Bible.
Meanwhile, a prayer service was held at Kanglatongbi today where a large number of people attended.
The funeral service of NK Sying will be held at his native village Tapon on October 17 (Wednesday).
It is expected that several village authorities and Churches will be participating in the funeral service.
Meanwhile, the Global Liangmai Forum (GLF) has also expressed its deep pain and sorrow at the untimely demise of NK Sying.
In a condolence message GLF said that NK Sying was a distinguished leader and one of the pioneers in Liangmai Christian literature, "who had invested his entire life serving our people and put in his labour in translating the Bible to Liangmai dialect".
According to the GLF, NK Sying was a jolly soul.
The GLF said that NK Sying's loss has created a huge vacuum in the Liangmai society.
"Words may not suffice to express the heartfelt sorrow that we feel now." The GLF extended its deepest and sincere condolence to the bereaved family members.
