AMUCO demonstrates against Bangkok Declaration

In condemnation of signing of the Bangkok Declaration between the NSCN (IM) and Government of India on this day in 2001 at Bangkok for extension of ceasefire agreement between the two entities without territorial limits, a sit-in-protest was staged by All Manipur United Clubs' Organization (AMUCO) at Kwakeithel Bazar here today.
Speaking to newspersons in connection with the sit-in protest demonstration, Ph Devan Sharma, vice-president of AMUCO termed the declaration as a divisive policy of the Government of India against the people of Manipur and a serious threat to the territorial integrity of the State.
He cautioned the people that it was during the reign of NDA Government at Delhi that the Bangkok Declaration was made.
And today the same NDA is back at the helm of the power and the public of Manipur need to remain alert.
He reiterated that the the outcome of the talks between the Government of India and NSCN-IM or any underground outfit under Suspension of Operation (SoO) should affect the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Recalling that the June 18 incident in which 18 people laid down their lives for cause of protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur, Devan said that the people are ready to face any challenge to the threat to the territory of Manipur.
