Imphal, May 14 2013:
Considering the historical importance of the hall, where a number of ordinances had been passed and various development programmes of the State discussed, the Government of Manipur has decided to preserve and protect the hall in the Old Manipur Assembly building Hall.
According to reports reaching Hueiyen Lanpao, following the shifting of Manipur State Assembly at its new complex in Chingmeirong where subsequent sittings of the House are being conducted, the matter related to preservation and protection of the old Assembly hall has been mooted during the course of discussion on transferring the office of which department to occupy the vacant old Assembly complex.
Earlier, the State Government had decided to shift the office of the Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) in the complex of old Assembly and to dismantle the office of IMC for constructing a big public parking area there.
