Imphal, October 13 2019:
Questioning the deafening silence of the Chief Minister even though the present condition of the Naga peace talk between the NSCN (IM) and the Central Government has reached a critical stage, CPI has reasoned that it is high time for the CM and the State Government to call for an all political party meeting, organise an Assembly session and take a stand to pressure the Central Government against any arrangements which will harm the State.
Speaking to media persons at Irawat Bhawan, BT Road today, CPI Manipur State Council general secretary L Sotinkumar said that CPI regards the issue of separate Territorial Council, 6th Schedule and the ethnic based administration in the peace talk between NSCN (IM) and GOI as a matter of great concern and claimed that during the time of the previous Government, all political party meetings were called and the Central Government was urged/pressured against taking any rash actions.
However, he questioned why Chief Minister N Biren Singh is so silent in this regard, even though the situation has now reached such a critical stage and added that is the responsibility of the BJP Government to call for an all political party meeting immediately.
It is high time for an Assembly session to be called so that a united resolve can be taken and the Central Government can be pressured against making any move which can harm the integrity of the State, he added.
Claiming that a solution to the Naga issue might be brought either by granting any of the demands like Territorial Council, 6th Schedule, ethnic based administration or even extending Article 371 (a) to the Naga areas, Sotinkumar said that even though there might have been some problems due to the separate flag and constitution demand, the Naga issue will present a great threat to the State.
Strongly opposing any of the aforementioned demands, Sotinkumar said that if such demands are fulfilled, the State Government will be powerless in Naga inhabited areas and even added that the Central Government might further deploy many schemes or ploys to sell off the abundant resources of the State to corporate and multinational corporations.
He then questioned why the State Government is not piling pressure on the Central Government and expression suspicion if it (State Govt) is a party to the whole conspiracy to destroy the integrity of Manipur.
On the other hand, speaking about CAB, Sotinkumar conveyed that it is highly probable that the Government will infact impose CAB in the State as in its election manifesto, the BJP had clearly and openly declared that it will pass the CAB if it comes to power again.
Accusing the Union Home Minister of the country and the Chief Minister of Manipur, of lying to the people regarding the inclusion of a clause to protect the people of the North East region and Manipur, he said that the said clause will be useless when people from outside begins to flood the region at an alarming rate.
CPI is strongly against the race of the BJP to exterminate the indigenous people, he said and assured that CPI will stand firm against CAB.
The Central Government scrapped Article 370 from Kashmir in a show of power and in a similar manner, the Central Government will definitely use force when it comes to the Naga issue which can harm the integrity of the State.
At such critical juncture, CPI will stand it ground and fight for the people, he announced.
