Imphal, September 13 2018:
National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO) observed its 18th foundation day at Keishampat Yumjao Lairembi Community hall today.
Freedom Editor RK Ranendrajit, NIPCO president Premjit Oinam and NIPCO former president Khuppler Kom attended the ceremony as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively while Director Change & Peace Building Action RK Bobychand attended as resource persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Premjit Oinam conveyed that following the signing of Framework Agreement between the India Govt and NSCN-IM and its ensuing developments, NIPCO was formed.
NIPCO, with its vision to develop the State and live peacefully with all the communities in the State, has been taking up several initiatives by joining hands with the public, he added.
Premjit further stated the council will continue to pressure the Central and State Governments to relieve the people of the fear and anxieties caused by the peace accord.
He asserted that it is wrong and unnecessary on the part of every community to create tension among different communities in Manipur just to fulfil the whims and fancies of a militant group.
Demanding that the integrity of Manipur should not be affected, Premjit pointed out that it is the responsibility of the authorities concerned to inform the details included in the Framework Agreement, which has caused much hype and distress among the people of the State.
A musical troupe comprised of different communities presented a song titled "Rhythm of unity" as part of the celebration.
