Aizawl, December 12 2012:
Even as the car rally is scheduled to reach Moreh in the morning of December 15, KSDC had announced to impose indefinite public blockade with effect from the evening of December 14 .
KSDC had also said that the rally would not be allowed to proceed further from Moreh.
Responding to a query, Gaikhangam termed KSDC's decision to boycott the car rally as unfortunate.
He observed that such decisions would hamper development of the State.
Regarding Kuki State demand, Gaikhangam said it has been mentioned in the ground rules of the tripartite SoO involving State and Cental Governments and Kuki UG groups that it is not permissible to create a separate Kuki State carving out some portion from the present Manipur State which would lead to breaking up territorial boundary of the State.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that he is clueless why KSDC has taken the decision to block the car rally at a time when modalities for peace talks with SoO groups and KSDC are being chalked out.
The peace parley is scheduled to be started after the ongoing Parliament session, he added.
He said that the State Government would put all possible efforts at its disposal to make the rally a success.
All necessary measures would be put into force to thwart all types of disturbances as the rally must reach its destination as scheduled, he added.
He also urged the general public to extend cooperation in this regard.
Urging the KSDC to revoke its decision, the Deputy Chief Minister said that blocking of road would become an anti-people movement as the festive season of Christmas is coming.
Although, KNO did not append signature in SoO recently, the group is still taken as a signatory group.
Expressing hope that the group would append signature soon, Gaikhangam also hoped that the group would not violate SoO ground rules.
