Imphal, December 11 2019:
Acknowledging the extension of Inner Line Permit System to the State, One Manipur on behalf of the people lauded and appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister N Biren Singh today.
In a statement issued by its general secretary N Dorendro, One Manipur thanked the State Government and the Centre and remembered Lamjing Meira Robinhood, who died a hero demanding the ILP System.
It may be noted that the Inner Line Permit System was extended to Manipur, as a shield from Citizenship Amendment Bill, with President Ram Nath Kovind signing the order to this effect today, two days after Union Home Minister Amit Shah promised the same in the Parliament.
Terming the extension of ILP to the State as historic, One Manipur said that the system (ILP) will go a long way in protecting the indigenous people of the State and their identity.
Wishing peace and harmony to reign over the State, One Manipur also appreciated CSOs, Meira Paibis, student bodies and all concerned for their movements and efforts for bringing in the ILP System.
Manipur is the fourth State to have the Inner Line Permit System after Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
