Imphal, December 11 2012:
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today inaugurated Imphal branch of Bank of Maharashtra (BOM) at Kangla Park road.
Speaking on the occasion Gaikhangam observed that a society can develop only when all the people have the habit of saving.
A rich person's wealth is meaningless if he does not save it properly.
He also urged the authority of the newly launched bank to provide loans to poor people in Manipur without hesitation and hindrance.
Swapan Chakrabarty, Zonal Manager, Kolkata Zone explained that BOM was established in 1935 and become a nationalized bank in 1969.So far, it has 1638 branches spread over 28 states and 2 union territories and the business turnover is Rs.150000 as on 30-09-2012 .
He expressed hope that the newly opened BOM branch would help in inculcating the habit of saving money among the people.
