Fixing of high security plates crosses 2800 mark

Imphal, November 01 2012: Around 2800 vehicles plying on the roads of Imphal have been equipped with High Security Number Plates so far, since the initiative was taken up jointly by State Transport Department and Shimnit Utsch India Pvt Ltd in April last.

The Mumbai-based Shimnit Utsch India Pvt Ltd is carrying out the process of fixing high security number plates by opening a fixing centre at Moirangkhom.

An office of Shimnit Utsch India Pvt Ltd has also been opened inside the office complex of Transport department.

Ever since fixing of high security number plates was started, altogether 2800 vehicles, including two, three and four wheelers, have been equipped with the high security number plates.

For those customers who have bought their vehicles anew, high security number plates are provided at the time of registration itself.

Official sources revealed that a number of high security number plate fixing centres due to be set up in different districts of the state.

These centres would be opened at places approved by the concerned district transport officers.
