Henry, co-accused avoid date with Court

Okram Henry and three other alleged accused including two non-local people again failed to appear before the Special Court, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (ND& PS) Lamphelpat today for the charge consideration hearing of the airport drug seizure case.
The five alleged accused against whom CBI Special Crime Branch, Kolkata had filed a charge sheet on April 18 were Okram Henry, Sapam Angus alias Naoba alias Nanao, Md Rajauddin and two non-local men namely Ramveer Tyagi and Rajneesh Kumar of Gaziabad who were said to be proprietors of pharmacies.
The charge sheet was filed before the Court by BB Chakravarty, DSP CBI Special Crime Branch Kolkata for offence punishable under Section 21, 25 (A), 29 ,32 of ND&PS Act and under 120, 420, 468, 471 and 506 of Indian Panel Code.
Nonetheless, one of the alleged accused, Md Rajauddin appeared before the Court during the charge consideration hearing.
As for other alleged accused Okram Henry, Sapam Angus, Rajneesh Kumar and Ramveer Tyagi, their respective counsels filed an application seeking for dispensation of their clients from appearing before the Court today.
During the charge consideration hearing, CBI counsel and defence counsels of the alleged accused gave their submissions under Section 9 and section 25(A) of ND&PS Act.
Submission of both the counsels regarding section 25(A) of ND&PS Act were heard by the Judge who fixed October 27 for further charge consideration hearing of the case.
It may be mention that CBI Kolkata had filed a charge sheet against Okram Henry and four others.
On January 11, 2013, a team of Special Intelligence Unit (SIU) Manipur acting under the supervision of then Inspector K Ranjit seized seven numbers of attended cartons suspected to be containing contraband drugs from Imphal airport which were transported from Kolkata to Imphal by Deccan cargo.
During the searching of the unattended seven cartons in presence of some witnesses, Robocoff tablets, Seafied tablets and Respified tablets were found after which the seven carton boxes were handed over to Singjamei police station by SIU Manipur.
Soon after the seizure, the SIU was disbanded.
The case was transferred to CBI by a notification of Government of Manipur on March 6 .
CBI Special Crime Branch Kolkata registered a case for further investigation and on completing the investigation, a charge sheet was submitted on April 18, 2016 .
