Imphal, January 10 2019:
Saying that a Bill passed by the Parliament supersedes a Bill passed by the State when two contradictory Bills are passed in Centre and State respectively, as per the Constitution of India, Congress MLA Th Lokeshore has questioned how the BJP led State Government is going take the President's assent to the Manipur People's Protection Bill 2018 .
He also asked all the political parties in the State to collectively oppose and fight against the Bill before it gets turned into an Act, by leaving aside political differences.
Speaking as the chief guest in the closing ceremony of a free special revision coaching class for class X which was held at the community hall of Sagolmang in Imphal East district today, Lokeshore, who is also the MLA of Khundrakpam A/C, urged all CSOs and communities to collectively fight against the BJP's consistent effort to pass the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in the Rajya Sabha again and to implement the same as an Act in the country after the same Bill was passed recently in the Lok Sabha.
He further questioned whether the Chief Minister of Manipur and the BJP will be able to reject when the Central Government and BJP's Central Working Committee's high command put down strong pressure on the State Government to accept the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2018, while pointing out that the same Chief Minister and State Government were not able to remove even an MU Professor when the whole State demanded for removal of the said Professor during the MU crisis last year.
Further accusing the BJP that tension and problems always flare up the State and India whenever they come to power, the Congress MLA urged the people of the State to unite and defend the State from any ploys of the BJP to divide the State and India as a whole.
He then exuded confidence that the free coaching camp which concluded today will go a long way in motivating the students in the preparation for appearing in the coming HSLC examination, 2019 .
DESAM president, Salam Akash, who attended as the guest of honour, said that there are still many loopholes in the run to transform and uplift the Government schools in the State.
He lamented that the local MLAs concerned are putting little or no effort towards developing the Government schools in their respective jurisdiction although the State Government has implemented various schemes and initiatives like mid-day meal, free education and issuance of free school uniforms.
DESAM organized the two months free coaching camp which concluded today and around 76 students took part in the coaching camp.
