Imphal, December 09 2011:
The Reconciliation Committee of the United Revolutionary Front in a press statement urged the public to raise its voice against the "colonial rule of the India" and demand the lost sovereignty of Manipur.
Even though the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted on December 10, 1948, people in the state are not enjoying the basic human rights envisaged in the declaration till today.
Manipuris who had their own independent kingdom, religion, culture and economy, are now living their lives in hell under the "colonial rule of the Indian Union since the past 63 years".
Even though India signed the declaration in 1966 raising its voice to abolish colonial rule by the end of 20th Century and introduce Human Rights Bill in 1993, human rights violation is rampant in the state till today, the statement added.
The India government by instituting various anti human rights acts like AFSPA and NSA is violating the basic human rights of the people of the state and suppressing the liberation movement.
Declaration on the granting of Independence to colonial countries and people according to the UN General Assembly Resolution No 1514 (XV) 1960, national liberation movement is supported by the United Nations and International laws, it stated.
The statement further urged the people of the state not to get disheartened even if the security forces are using various techniques to suppress and defame the movement since it is a movement supported by the United Nations and International Laws.
It also urged the people to raise their voice against the human rights violations prevalent in the state and support the liberation movement for a free Manipur.
