The 77th anniversary of the Quit India Movement, was observed at Congress Bhawan, today.
A press release issued by the Chairman of Media Dept, MPCC today mentioned that president of MPCC Gaikhangam led MPCC vice president Sagolshem Achouba Singh, office bearers, PCC members, frontal cell leaders and Congress workers in paying floral tributes in memory of the brave souls who perished during the course of the movement.
It narrated that Quit India Movement was launched by Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Maulana Azad, Congress leaders and citizens against the British rule from August 9 and during the movement more than 10,000 people lost their lives while more than 60,000 were imprisoned and added that MPCC has always been observing the anniversary of the movement on August 9 every year in honour of the fallen heroes and martyrs.
