UNLF cadres arrested

Imphal, November 08 2019: Imphal East district police arrested two active cadres of UNLF at around 3.45 pm yesterday, while they were trying to extort money from some shops located at Singjamei Chinga Mathak area.

The two individuals were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West, by a team of Singjamei PS today and taken into six days police remand, till November 13 .

According to a police source, Imphal East district commando acting on specific information regarding the presence of some active members UNLF in and around Singjamei area, rushed to the spot and arrested two active members of UNLF from in front of Royal Enfield Showroom, Singjamei Chinga Mathak.

The arrested individuals were identified as Md Nizamuddin (46) s/o Md Wazid Ali of Urup Chinga Leikai and Chingakham David Meetei (32) s/o Thoiba of Keirao Wangkhem, the source mentioned, adding that during preliminary interrogation, Md Nizamuddin disclosed that he joined the outfit last year through one self styled publicity secretary Shakhen and is presently working under his command.

On the other hand, Chingakham David Meetei disclosed that he joined the outfit through Md Nizamuddin and they both visited Tamu (Mayanmar) to meet one Richard of the outfit.

Upon his (Richard) instruction, they came to Singjamei area to collect money from the shops.

One Honda Dio, one Activa and two mobile phones were seized from the two individuals before they handed over to Singjamei PS, the source added.
