Churachandpur, October 08 2024:
Providing critical emergency medical support, Assam Rifles in coordination with Army Aviation airlifted a 12-year-old girl from Hebron Veng in Churachandpur district to Guwahati in the early hours of October 8 .
The evacuation of Lunhoihching was carried out under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South).
It is worth noting that the young girl was involved in an accident on October 3 and suffered a severe Grade V right kidney injury (as per the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma kidney injury scale).
Her condition required urgent surgical intervention; however, the District Hospital in Churachandpur lacked the specialized urological care and facilities necessary to treat her and her condition began to deteriorate, said a press release issued by IGAR (S) .
As Lunhoihching showed no signs of improvement, swift action was necessary to provide her with the necessary medical care.
She was cleared by doctors to travel in a sitting position.
Following this, the Assam Rifles medical team assessed her vitals and coordinated with the District Administration and Army Aviation to facilitate an urgent air evacuation.
Thus, in the early hours of October 8, Lunhoihching and her mother were safely evacuated to Guwahati, ensuring that she received the much needed critical care.
The ailing girl's family has expressed their gratitude for the timely support extended by Assam Rifles and Army Aviation during their time of need.
