Special Judge, ND&PS Fast Track Court (FTC) Manipur sentenced one Md Sagir Ahamed alias Abo (28) s/o (L) Md Abdullah of Lilong Kaleikong Makha Leikai to rigorous imprisonment for 15 years, apart from imposing a fine of Rs 2,50,000 to be paid within 6 months, following his arrest by Lilong PS along with a large quantity of SP capsules and N-10 tablets on May 27, 2014 .
The sentence was announced today in an open Court after Md Sagir Ahamed was found guilty in the drug case and convicted on January 31 .
During the hearing today, the Court heard the submission of the Special PP and the defense counsel of the convict at length before coming to a conclusion and sentenced the convict to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment.
The Court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,50,000 to be paid within a period of 6 months failing which the convict has to undergo another 3 years of simple imprisonment.
On the other hand, the Court also recommended appropriate award for the IO of the case, then Lilong OC in-charge Th Brinda and 2nd IO of the case, Asem Satyabati Devi for their commendable performance and their distinguished service.
