Killings decried, probe demanded

Imphal, January 08 2014: The members of United NGOs Mission, Manipur (UNMM), other NGOs and women organizations have strongly condemned the brutal killing of Oinam Sharif alias Muba, a 12 years lad minor boy, son of a street vendor namely Ibemcha of Oinam Sawom-bung on December 29, 2013 and also the killing of Sangomshungbam Sahida (55 years), wife of Md.Seraj Ahmad of Kiyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai, Imphal East District, on January 2, 2014 .

These organisations have also condemned the murder of Farida Begum (26 years), wife of Md.Shiraj of Santhel, Mayang Imphal and and Chaobi Bibi (60), wife of late Md.Usmail of Kwakta Makha Leikai on January 6, 2014 .

"We the humanitarian workers and volunteers are deeply shock to experience the manner how the people killed children and women.

We observe that the perpetrators were well organized and trained confidently to kill the victims," the UNMM said.

According to UNMM, Oinam Sharif was found dead from among the thick overgrowth/bush along the Imphal River bank some 200 metres on the northern side of the Imphal Barrage with a wide injury mark on his abdomen at around 1.30 pm of December 29, 2013 under Wangoi Police Station, Imphal west.

When the members of UNMM visited at the spot where the dead body of Sharif was dumped, thick overgrowth/bush was cut down and cleaned up and there was not a single drop of blood on the ground even though he was severely injured on his abdomen.

"We observed that cleaning off the bush where the corpse of Sharif was dumped is deliberately done to wash off the evidence.

Sharif, who was studying in Class II, was a brilliant student even though he was brought up by a mobile street vendor and he was uttered to his mother during his life time that he would become an IAS officer one day," the organisation stated."When we look at closely the modus operandi of all the cases, it seems that the perpetrators are habitual criminal because they cleverly cover up and concealed the evidence with the motives that they cannot identify and arrest by the police," the UNMM said.

It then demanded to establish an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate all the cases of murder.

It also demanded that re-postmortem should be done the dead body of Sharif along with the experts and media in order to confirm that all his organ were intact; The postmortem should be done the dead body of Farida Begum and immediately provide the FIR and postmortem reports of all the murder cases to their respective families, it further demanded.
