AR pays tribute to bravehearts

The Assam Rifles organised a solemn wreath-laying ceremony today to honor Rifleman (General Duty) Late Lukhis Lama of 4 Assam Rifles, who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the Nation.
According to a release issued by PRO HQ IGAR(South), on November 7, 1957, a column of one Junior Commissioned Officer and 11 other ranks from 4 Assam Rifles came under heavy volume of fire from insurgents while performing Convoy Protection duty along Mao Road in Manipur.
During the heavy exchange of fire, Rifleman (Late) Lukhis Lama sustained serious injuries and succumbed to them, thereby making the supreme sacrifice for the Nation.
Assam Rifles paid homage at the War Memorial to honour the braveheart who made the supreme sacrifice for the cause of the Nation.
The wreath-laying ceremony held at Mantripukhri on Thursday was attended by about 100 Assam Rifles Service personnel.
At Moreh, Tengnoupal district, a wreath-laying ceremony was also organised to honour Rifleman (Late) Prem Singh Thapa who made the supreme sacrifice on November 7, 1957, during an operation against insurgents in Purr, Naga Hills.
