Prepared to combat new wave: Dr Ranjan

Health minister Dr S Ranjan Singh has said that in view of the gradual increase of Covid-19 cases in the state, precautionary/preventive measures have been taken to combat the new Covid wave.
The minister also informed that order has been issued for conducting compulsory COVID tests at major entry points of the state while oxygen cylinders, ICU wards and isolation wards have been kept ready to tackle the situation.
He then urged the people to avoid unnecessary gatherings in view of the prevailing situation and get vaccinated with the recommended dosages.
Speaking as the chief guest at the 2nd Mega Voluntary Blood Donation Camp organised by CID (Technical) Branch at the 1st MR Banquet Hall here on Thursday, Dr Ranjan pointed out that donating blood can save lives of others who are in need of blood along with explaining that there is no harm in donating blood.
"Keeping adequate blood in stock is very necessary since any calamity may occur any time.
The quantity of blood collected from donors in the state is comparatively less in comparison to the actual requirement", he revealed and called upon the public to join the campaign of blood donation in order to maintain the required stock in the blood banks.
The minister also maintained that awareness programme about blood donation is necessary in order to clear misconception about blood donation.
Mentioning about anti drug campaign.
Dr Ranjan said that all need to extend help to make the campaign successful by understanding the ill effects of drug abuse.
As functional president of the programme, Director General of Police P Doungel said that blood donors are doing a noble job by saving lives of others.
One who is eligible to donate blood should not hesitate in joining the noble cause, he stressed while congratulating all the volunteer blood donors.
