No room for non-Congress parties in state: Gaikhangam

Imphal, March 07 2012: A felicitation ceremony of the 42 successful candidates of Congress party who contested in the recent elections to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly was held at Congress Bhawan today.

Organised by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), the function was attended by Luizinho Faleiro, General Secretary, AICC, Manipur in-charge and Hemam Vishwas, Central observer, apart from state Congress leaders.

Luizinho Faleiro presented gifts and garlanded the elected candidates.

Speaking on the occasion, Faleiro said that the success of congress candidates was not merely a win in the election but a grand success of democracy.

It was for letting democracy to succeed that the successful Congress candidates were being felicitated, he added.

Chief Minister O Ibobi, who was also present at the occasion, observed that said that it was indeed fortunate that the people of the state have trusted the Congress and let the Congress to come back with thumping success.

This showed that people of the state always one and they would stand as one on all occasions.

He also, expressed his gratitude to the people for defying all odds and exercising their rights which come once in five years and assured that Congress would not let the faith and trust of the people reposed on Congress be sidelined.

Ibobi further appealed to all the UG groups to desist from the path of violence and come for peaceful talks with the state government.

In his speech, Gaikhangam, President, MPCC maintained that it was first time in the history of Manipur politics that the people of the state have shown such trust and support to the Congress.

The victory is not a victory of the Congress but the victory of the people.

This big victory of the Congress, made happened by the people of the state, clearly indicated that there is no room for non-Congress parties in the state, he said, and added that Congress would never betray the trust of the people.
