JAC refuses to take body of victim

The JAC is refusing to take charge of the dead body of the mortal remains of Moirangthem Gopal (43) son of late Moirangthem Gourachandra.
Some representatives of JAC met with the chief minister Okram Ibobi on Wednesday.
They demanded Rs 15 lakh as compensation to the family members of Gopal and Rs 5 lakh each to the four injured.
However the chief minister said that the government will give Rs 10 lakh with approval of the cabinet.
Besides Rs 1 lakh would be given to the seriously wounded and Rs 50,000 to the less injured ones.
Besides government job will be given to a family member.
Convener of the JAC said that it will not take charge of the dead body till the killers are nabbed.
It will intensify agitations from Thursday if the government fails to take effective actions.
Despite curfew a large number of persons came out to protest on Wednesday.
But they were intercepted by police on the way.
Angry persons attacked the police with rocks and slingshots.
Police fired smoke bombs and tear gas canisters.
Some police personnel sustained injuries in the mob attacks.
Two protestors who were injured in police crackdown were hospitalized.
