Lamkhai to Sugnu Road (State Highway) Development and Demand Committee (LSR-DDC) has cautioned of launching protests if the assurance given by works minister Govindas Konthoujam to repair the long-neglected Wabagai Lamkhai to Sugnu road does not commence soon.
As per a release by LSR-DDC convener B Ojitkumar Sharma, minister Govindas had assured in a meeting held on August 19 that work will start for the said State Highway within 10 days and as per the instruction of the minister, an agreement was signed between the department concerned and LSR-DDC for the repair work on the same day.
If the minister's assurance is not translated into act within short notice, the LSR-DDC would be compelled to initiate a protest in accordance with the public wishes, the Committee stated and also warned that any untoward incidents thereof would be the sole responsibility of the government.
As per the agreement, improvement work would commence within 10 days, noted the convenor, while pointing out that the chief minister had also assured in the State Assembly that repairing of the said road will be carried out.
