If the Sana Konung (Royal Palace) is taken over by the State Government all the customary rites and rituals of both the hills and the plain people will be in a chaotic condition, if not obliterated, Wungayung Peter, Headman of Hundung village, Ukhrul has exclaimed.
So, the decision of the State Cabinet to take over Royal Palace and to shift the King to another place is very unfortunate and highly condemnable, he added.
Wungayung was talking to media persons after a meeting held at Chongabon, Sana Konung today.
The meeting was attended by around 22 people from Hundung village.
The village headman observed that Sana Konung has been preserving the age old cultural heritage of the State and it is very unfortunate that the State Cabinet has decided to take over the Palace.

Demanding that the Cabinet decision should be revoked at the earliest, Wungayung said that Hundung villagers under his leadership will support all types of agitations to safeguard the Royal palace from taking over by the State Government.
He further stated that with the acquisition of Royal Palace by the State Government there will be problems arising in the performance of customary rites and rituals by the king.
It may also affect the relationship between the people of the hills and the plains.
Shimrawung Kapai, Secretary of Hundung village, who was also present on the occasion, said that the move of the State Government to turn the Royal palace into a museum is very unfortunate.
It is not a just act on the part of the Government to forcibly take over the Royal Palace, he added.
