Imphal, March 05 2024:
It is natural for any student, who are sitting any board examination, to have a sense of relief and feeling elated on knowing that they would no longer have to toil long hours studying to prepare for the test, and sitting in the examination.
However, for several students, who are appearing in the Higher Secondary Examination 2024 conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur, the end of their examination is just another stark reminder of their harsh reality as they have no home to return to and no reason to rejoice.
One such student poured out her emotions as she had to return to her relief camp from a residential coaching class organised for class 10 and 12 examinations by Class 10 and 12 Parents' Committee Sagolmang Higher Secondary School.
The displaced girl student has been participating in the coaching class conducted at the school and staying there since January 3.During her stay, she focused on her study to excel in the examination but as the coaching class concluded on Tuesday and the moment for her to return to her family living in a relief camp, she suddenly felt the jolt of the inevitable that awaits her in the crowded relief camp.
The girl student, a resident of Saparmeina and presently staying in a relief camp in Khurkhul, said that the coaching class has ended and the examination will also end soon.
However, she has no reason to rejoice as she could not return to her home but stay at the relief camp.
She also made an earnest appeal to chief minister N Biren urging him to make it possible for them to return home.
At the same time, the student as well as other displaced students, who participated in the coaching class organised under the aegis of Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeshwar, expressed their gratitude to the organisers for not only assisting in their preparation for the examination but also for providing a peaceful environment to study.
Yet, they all expressed the same concern of their grim life in relief camps where they will return within a couple of hours.
As the examination is set to conclude later this month, these displaced students are grappled with a mix of emotions, underscoring the complex realities they navigate amidst academic pursuits and displacement.
