Imphal, December 04 2020:
Federation of Haomee has condemned the detention of its representatives at Imphal Police Station today to 'discuss' an article published in an evening daily, on October 25, titled "Kuki War of Independence 1917-1919 by Kuki vs Massacre of People of Manipur by Kuki Marauders 1917-1919, by Federation of Haomee, Manipur: A Critical Analysis Based on History, Geography and Political Situation" and said it was a clear violation of freedom of expression guaranteed under Article 19 of the Indian Constitution.
A statement released by the federation said, Haomee was only trying to rectify and clear the fact against the claim of Anglo-Kuki War and Kuki Uprising as historical events, for these events never happened in the history of Manipur.
The federation stand against such false claimed by PS Haokip and other Kuki leaders.
Dr Leishemba Mangang, publicity secretary Haomee, added that instead of taking action against the very people who committed genocide, efforts were made to subdue the truth brought out by the federation.
He also said Sunanda Thokchom, under secretary GAD, Government of Manipur, need to clarify on which history of Manipur did the Kuki Uprising happen.
She had passed an order on December 3 to include Kuki Rising Day in the list of restricted holidays.
Haomee also questioned why the Government was trying to change the history of the land with such false documentation and urged the public to support Haomee on any decision to preserve and protect the history of Manipur for future generations.
