Preparations for Orange Festival almost complete

Preparation works of the 12th edition of Orange Festival scheduled to be held from December 8 to 9 next at lower ground of Tamenglong District Headquarter is almost completed now.
This year, the festival will be held on the theme of "Peace and Prosperity" .
Hectic preparation for the 12th edition of Orange Festival is under commendable progress and 90 percent of works in the venue are already completed.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi will grace the opening ceremony as Chief Guest and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam as the Chief Host of the Orange Festival.
While urging all to participate in the Festival, the organizing committee sources highlighted that the festival will showcase crats, traditional and cultural items, a seminar for orange growers, indigenous games and sports and musical shows.

Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Lokeshwar; Commerce and Industries, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister Govindas konthoujam; IFCD, Printing and Stationery Minister Ngamthang Haokip; Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Economics and Statistics Francis Ngajokpa; Works and Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar; Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Md Abdul Nasir; Deputy Speaker MK Preshow Shimray; Vice Chairman of Hill Areas Committee Z Kikhonbou Newmai; MLA of Tengnoupal A/C D Korungthang and MLA 53-Tamenglong Janghemlung Panmei will attend the function as Guests of Honour.
The Miss Orange Queen will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 along with a citation.
Cash prizes of Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 along with citations will be awarded to the first and second runners-up respectively.
The Best Costume Designer award will be honoured with a cash prize of Rs 20,000 along with a citation while eight sub-titles of the Miss Orange Queen contest will be honoured with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each along with citations.
In the meantime, filling of potholes and repairing of roads in the heart of Tamenglong District Headquarter has also started.
Joint Forum for Transport Welfare Association Secretary DM Joseph appealed the responsible work agency to maintain quality in the undergoing road repair work.
The forum will keep vigil and check the quality of the work, informed the association.
