Smartphone filmmaking workshop begins

Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, under its Skilling India in Film & Television (SKIFT) initiative, in association with the Department of Mass Communication, Manipur University, launched a 10-Day Workshop on Smartphone Film Making Course at Manipur University today.
Around 40 aspiring participants from different professions took part in the workshop which is the second venture in Manipur organised by Department of Mass Communication, Manipur University in collaboration with FTII.
A film Appreciation Course was successfully conducted by FTTI under the same SKIFT initiative in January this year under the aegis of the Department of Mass Communication .

Ajmal Jami, a reputed practising professional in the field of Cinematography, Visual Content and production and who has over 30 years of experience in a diverse range of visual communication, including mobile filmmaking, is the Course Director.
He also served as HOD-Camera at NDTV news channel.
The course comprises of different aspects of mobile film making and practical sessions.
Prof Amar Yumnam, Department of Economics, Manipur University, Ajmal Jami and Dr Meenakumari Angom attended the function as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Giving her welcome speech, Dr Natasa Elangbam appealed to all the participants to make the most out of this rare opportunity.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Amar highlighted the importance of new technologies in our daily lives.
Effective use of these new technologies will lead to the development of our society, Dr Meenakumari stated adding that mobile phone has become an integral part of our lives.
Through this course, we would be able to explore its utility to the fullest in the field of filmmaking and this will give ample knowledge to the young aspiring filmmakers of the state, she added.
The first day of the workshop focused on the basics of framing, different camera angles, and composition.
A practical session was also conducted as well.
