KVK I/W organises training on mushroom production techniques

Krishshi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Imphal West, under ICAR Research complex for NEH region, Manipur centre conducted a seven-day skill training for rural youth on "Mushroom production techniques" from September 25 to October 1 .
The training was held under National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GoI.
The inaugural programme was attended by Kh Hera i/c Senior Scientist and Head, MS Khaidem Project coordinator (SFAC), Subject matter specialist of KVK Imphal West and CEO and Project Coordinator of Farmer Producer Organisation.

Altogether 15 youth attended the training programme in which they were trained on the importance and scope of mushroom production in Manipur and NEH region, housing of mushroom production, mushroom spawn production, different types of mushroom, edible and poisonous mushroom, cultivation technology of organic Oyster mushroom, Paddy Straw mushroom production and harvesting, cultivation technology of milky mushroom, waste management of mushroom, cultivation technology of Shitake mushroom, mushroom processing, packaging and marketing, pest and disease management of mushroom, cultivation technology of white button mushroom, value addition of mushroom, medicinal properties of mushroom, nutritional value of mushrooms and its relevance in healthy food.
Practical demonstration on Oyster mushroom cultivation and Paddy Straw mushroom was also carried out while a visual presentation/film on scientific cultivation of Oyster, Button and Shitake mushroom was screened as well.
K Lily Rangnamei (SMS, Horticulture) course director, S Gunamani (SMS, Plant Breeding), Dr Lydia Zimik (SMS, Agronomy), Dr RK Nirmala (SMS Animal Science) and Th Bablu (Computer programmer) of KVK Imphal West attended as the resource persons of the technical session.
Dr Susheel Kumar Sharma, Scientist (Plant pathology), Dr Arati Ningombam, Scientist (Entomomlgy), Agamlu Rongmai skilled supporting staff, Th Surjit ( Senior Technician) and Kahimgaipou Gangmei (project Assistance) of ICAR Research Complex for North East Hill Region and Dr Y Prabhabati SMS (Home Science) of KVK Chandel also spoke at the training programme.
The trainees were taken for exposure visit to M/S Borendra Composite farm Haorang Sabal imphal West.
Certificates were also distributed to the participants during the valedictory programme.
