Kakching, September 04 2014: "Economic blockade will not affect only one particular community.

It will affect every community who are living together and will lead us to economic deformation.

So, it is time to raise our voice against economic blockade and bandh in the State" .

This was stated by the Minister of Commerce & Industries, Govindas Konthoujam while laying the Foundation Stone of District Industrial Estate of Thoubal District in a function held at Kuraopokpi Village today.

The Foundation Stone laying ceremony of the Industrial Estate under Micro-Small Enterprises � Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP) scheme of Ministry of MSME, Government of India was organized by Department of Commerce & Industries, Government of Manipur and graced by Govindas Konthoujam, Minister of Commerce & Industries, Vety & Animal Husbandry, Sericulture as Chief Guest and Y.Surchandra Singh, MLA Kakching A/C as Functional President.

K.Ranjit, MLA of Sugnu A/C; Paonam Brojen, MLA of Wangjing Tentha A/C and Md.Fajur Rahim, MLA of Wabagai A/C were also present on the occasion as Guests of Honour.

Speaking as Chief Guest of the function, Govindas said that Micro Small Enterprises Ministry is the largest unit providing employment to the people next to Agriculture sector.

"Since we attained our Statehood, there was only one Industrial estate which was located at Takyel.

However, after hard efforts of the present government led by Chief Minister O.Ibobi Singh, there is a provision of setting up of Industrial Estate in every District of the state under Micro-Small Enterprises � Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP)", said the Minister.

He further said that setting up of Industrial Estate will bring economy growth as it will provide employment which in turn will raise the living standard of the people.

And it is the local populace who will be getting the maximum benefits from the industrial estate, he added.

When India signed Free Trade Agreement with other Asian countries and setting up of Multi Logistic Hub at Pallel, the people of Thoubal and Chandel District will get the benefits firstly as the two districts is at the corridor of the Asian Highway.

Moreover, it will also boast and improve the economy of the state a lot and will bring economic development, the Minister expressed optimism.

But he questioned that how we can achieve economic growth and development if we indulged in imposing economic blockade which put economic activities to standing halt.

"Economic Blockade was never heard in other parts of the world except in Isreal where it was enforced in Gaza.

However, in Manipur it is enforced even on trivial issues by some vested interest persons", the Minister noted.

So, it is a time for the people of Manipur raise their voices against Economic Blockade and Bandh in the State, the Minister exhorted.

Subadani Devi, Chairperson of Kakching Municipality also attended the foundation stone laying ceremony.
