Myanmar keen on Imphal-Mandalay bus service

Myanmar Saigang region MP D Thangliana has stated that Myanmar is very much interested and is eagerly awaiting introduction of bus service between Imphal and Mandalay.
D Thangliana further con veyed about his country's desire for assistance from the Government of Manipur in the field of health care including pharmaceutical products.
The Myanmarese delegates led by Saigang region Power Minister U Kyaw Win who are currently visiting Manipur on a goodwill mission called on Deputy Chief Minister
Gaikhangam at his Old Secretariat office this afternoon.
Speaking to media persons after meeting the Myanmarese delegation, Gaikhangam remarked that the visit would
take the Indo-Myanmar ties to a higher plane.
He stated that there were many similarities between Manipur and Myanmar.
The Myanmarese delegation and the Deputy Chief Minister discussed on the cooperation between India and Myanmar on such areas as health, education etc in addition to the agenda of opening a Consulate General office of Myanmar at Imphal.
The foreign delegates also expressed their desire of another Myanmarese, delegation, which would be led by Saigang region Speaker, to visit Manipur sometime in the future.
The delegation would visit Loktak Project tomorrow and observe how the project is being run by NHPC.
A State delegation led by Industries Minister K.Govindas would pay a visit to Saigang region of Myanmar shortly, Gaikhangam stated.
K Govindas who was also present at the press meet explained that the proposed visit is aimed at assessing the minerals found at Saigang region for establishment of a thermal power plant at Moreh which can cater to the huge power requirement of the border town as and when it is developed as an international township.
Informing that the Manipuri delegates would include Experts, Govindas claimed that the Government has initiated certain measures to develop Moreh as a key entry point for South East Asian region to India.
