ILP : Govt invites for talks, JCILPS accepts with a rider

In response to the written invitation from the Chief Minister of Manipur for talks on the issue of Inner Line Permit System on September 4, the Joint Committee on ILP system (JCILPS) Manipur sent an acceptance letter through MLA RK Anand, Convenor of All Political Party Committee suggesting release of its executive member Advocate Pukhrambam Arjun to enable him to participate in the talks.
In the invitation, which was addressed to JCILPS convenor Heikrujam Ibotombi Khuman, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh requested to make it convenient to attend discussion on the issue of implementation if ILPS in Manipur along other members of the Committee at 2 pm tomorrow at the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by W.Ananda Meetei, Co-Convenor, Publicity Committee, JCILPS stated that on September 1, it received a written invitation from the Chief Minister for holding the first phase of meeting on the issue of ILP system in Manipur on September 4 at 2 pm.
Accordingly, the Joint Committee after a general body meeting held on September 2 conveyed its acceptance to the Chief Minister with the suggestion to include advocate Arjun in the talks.
In the acceptance letter, the Joint Committee on ILPS expressed desire for participation of its executive member Advocate Arjun who is in jail after arrest by police during the agitation on the issue.
The Committee decided to begin the phase-wise talks with the government, if Advocate Arjun is released unconditionally, the press release said.

It may be recalled here that in its second meeting held on August 30 last, the All-Political Party Committee on ILP decided to wait for the opinions of All Manipur Br Association, High Court Bar Association and few other experts for one week as requested before starting interaction with interested experts/organisations on ILP issue with effect from September 4 onwards.
The meeting also entrusted the Convenor of the Committee to meet the Chief Minister for invitation of the Joint Committtee on ILP System (JCILPS) to have dialogue at the earliest.
