Imphal, February 03 2025:
The Rural Engineering Department (RED), Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency (MSRRDA), has clarified that the bridge at Uyumpok Litanmakhong in Imphal East district is incomplete and a process has been taken up to relaunch the bridge.
In a release, the RED informed that the construction of the 180ft-long bridge began in 2020 under PMGSY-I with a sanction amount of Rs 465.22 lakh.
The RED continued that the construction of the bridge, which was targeted to be completed by 2020, was delayed due to the outbreak of Covid pandemic and the present conflict in Manipur.
"To ensure timely completion of the bridge, the launching process was done after the arrival of key components.
Unfortunately, due to some technical problems, the bridge was forced to relaunched", it added.
Highlighting that the process for re-launching the bridge has been going on, the RED mentioned that the bridge is currently underconstruction and payment for the Contractor has also not been released.
The RED appealed to the people to have faith in the department and assured that it is working tirelessly to complete the construction of the bridge at the earliest.
Furthermore, the RED informed that the construction of the two bridges at Keibi Awang Leikai and Taret Khul have been completed, and will be handed over to the public after necessary permission from higher authorities.
