Imphal, February 03 2020: Wheelchair Basketball Association Manipur (WBAM) has sought the attention of the State Government regarding the welfare for disabled sports players, especially wheelchair basketball players of the State.

A press release issued by general secretary of the association stated that an abled sportsperson can participate in the National, International sports/games or even in the Olympics and bag prestigious medals and likewise, disabled sports players can also make the State proud with enough support and attention of the authorities concerned.

Under the Persons with Disabilities Act 2016, a disabled individual does not deserve any less opportunities/enefits from that of an abled person.

It appealed to the authorities concerned to take up necessary measures to support the disabled sports players by forming a committee so as to promote them in the field of games and sports.

It further stated that L Dhaneshwor has been appointed as the new president of the association with Md Yunus Khan as the general secretary.
