Decks clear for Anal cultural fest

Chandel, January 03 2014 : The Teno Alum (Cultural festival) of the Anal Tribe will be held on January 7 and 8 at the ground of Maha Union Govt.Higher Secondary School, Japhou in Chandel district headquarters.

The festival is to be organised under the aegis of Analphung, a web-based management organisation.

Briefing media about the progress of the arrangements being made for the festival here today, Convener of the festival and former President of Anal Naga Tanpi (ANTA) Ts Warngam Anal interpreted the used of Anal glossary 'Teno' as the cultural and traditional practices of the Anal ethnic community and said Teno Alum is one such gathering of the Anal tribe orchestrated by likeminded individuals to rejuvenate, preserve and developed those values that are slowly disappearing.

Dwelling on the concept of the festival, the Convenor said the festival is aimed at rejuvenating the rich values of cultural heritage of the ethnic Anal Community so that it may be preserved and promoted to fulfill the ultimate object of passing on the same values to the younger generations to come.

The Anal leader went on to point out that younger generations of the Anal Tribe have limited knowledge about their culture these days.

However, because of the earnest efforts made by some individuals, leaders and elders, the traditional values have been retained to some extent.

He informed that entire event would be recorded/documents and uploaded in the website of Analphung for the whole world to come to know about Anal Tribe.

On the highlights of the festival, the Convener informed that in addition to Anal folk songs, folk tales, dances, skits, indigenous games and releasing software of Anal fonts, Asian award winner Fashion stylish/Director, FTV St Benjamin, a renowned personality among the Anal Tribe, Fashion Designer Ws Konahring along with models from abroad and Mumbai will showcase the rich Traditional attires of the Anal Tribe during the festival.
