AR conducts joint cleanliness drive at Indo Myanmar border, celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

Adding yet another feather in the quest of synchronizing all agencies at Border Town of Moreh, the Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles along with Myanmar Army and Civil Administration of both the countries, organised a joint cleanliness drive at Indo-Myanmar Border between BP 78 and Namphalon Market today.
The event was attended by a total of 366 persons including 150 Indian nationals, 100 Myanmarese nationals, 66 personals of Moreh Battalion, and 50 District Administration and Myanmar police personals.
One JCB and three tippers from India were used while conducting the service.
The event witnessed an overwhelming participation of all Civil Society Organisation of Moreh and Tamu.
The cleanliness drive also saw an active participation of Commandant of Moreh Battalion, Commanding Officer of 89 IR Myanmar Army, DC, ADC of Tamu, Police, Immigration officers, reps of Namphalon Bazar Committee and ADC, SDC, SDPO Moreh.
As part of the drive, the civilians were briefed regarding the importance of cleanliness and mutual cooperation between two neighbouring countries.
They were also advised to throw the waste only in dustbins and earmarked pits which should be regularly cleaned and regulated.
The third initiative by Military of both countries as well as by civil administration at Moreh border, after the cleanliness drive held on January 19 and January 27 .
The joint social service turned out to be a huge success and a major milestone for both the Nations.
The initiative was well received and appreciated by the locals of both sides of Indo Myanmar Border as well as Civil Administration.
The Tamil Sangam (Moreh) extended extreme enthusiasm and cooperation as they offered tea and snacks to all during the cleanliness drive.
Moreh Battalion also conducted the cleanliness drive at TM Zummunuon and Chongjang village, wherein a total of 44 villagers participated in the drive.
Meanwhile, to honour the 'Father of Nation' on the occasion of 'Gandhi Jayanti', the Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles conducted "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan" at Khudengthabi.
The programme was attended by Assam Rifles troops as well as civilians including 15 males and 10 females of Khudengthabi village.
During the drive, emphasis was given on maintenance of clean atmosphere and surrounding and adverse effects of littering and spitting.
The attendees were also advised to keep the surroundings pollution free by encouraging the use dustbin & waste dumping areas in the village.
The programme culminated with an oath to create a healthy atmosphere.
On the other hand, Chandel Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles, under the "Swachfa Hi Sewa" campaign organised a special cleanliness drive at mini Stadium, Christian village, Chandel.
100 civilians and 48 AR personals participated and took pledge to keep the surroundings clean and healthy.
