Thoubal, August 02 2020: Regarding the increasing COVID positive cases in Thoubal district, a meeting participated by Thoubal DC, N Bandana and top officials of Health Department was convened today at the conference hall of Thoubal DC office.

At the meeting, CMO Thoubal, Dr Jayentakumar said that the District Health Society, Thoubal is working hard to keep the spread of novel coronavirus under control in the district.

Saying that the district surveillance team is actively undergoing contact tracing to identify COVID-19 positive cases, he added that mobile testing facilities are also available at many hot spots of Thoubal districts.

Dr Jayentakumar also stated that more accommodation spaces for COVID patients have been arranged in the district.

The Government alone cannot defeat this pandemic, he said and urged people of Thoubal to remain indoors as much as possible and follow COVID safety guidelines such as wearing masks and maintaining social distance while stepping outside out of necessity.

While, MS of District Hospital, Thoubal, Dr Ch Memcha Devi informed that Thoubal Hospital was closed for a few days after some of its staff and doctors tested COVID positive.

As screening of staff is almost complete, OPD, casualty and maternity wards of the hospital will be opened shortly, she said further informing that they are also considering of shifting the COVID testing facility to the complex of Khangabok High School.
