Imphal / Dimapur, January 02 2014:
It was a sombre Christmas and New Year celebrations for NSCN-IM leaders Isak Chisi Swu and Th Muivah in New Delhi and the mood was reflected back home here at Camp Hebron.
The Zunheboto episode had given a knee jerk shock to the NSCN-IM leadership.
The spark of December 21 incident had cost the NSCN-IM designated camp at Mukalimi, Zunheboto district, Nagaland.
Prior to this Zunheboto episode, the NSCN-IM leadership was waiting impatiently for the things to fall into places vis-a-vis the Naga peace talk hiccups created by the sudden resignation of RS Pandey as the interlocutor of the Central government.
The NSCN-IM leaders are in New Delhi since November 19 last year to resume the talks but after the series of informal meetings between the representatives of the government of India and the NSCN-IM, RS Pandey's joining to the fold of BJP has been the reason for the creation of the not-so-appealing ambience.
Meanwhile, sources in New Delhi informed Newmai News Network this evening that of the Ajit Lal, the present chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee has an edge over the other three speculated by the media.
The media reports have been speculating in the past few days that New Delhi may name as interlocutor from among the four persons--Ajit Lal, the present chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee, Lt.Gen.
(retd) RN Kapur, former Assam Police chief G.M.Srivastava, and a former special director of the Intelligence Bureau, and R.N.Ravi, who retired as Intelligence Bureau special director.
It can be noted here that the last time NSCN-IM leaders Isak Chisi Swu and Th Muivah had formally held the talks with the government of India was in the year 2012.Later, the hype got climaxed after Union Home minister Sushilkumar Shinde had assured that the Naga political issue will be settled by March 2013.That situation was even buttered by the concerted show of the now-unheard Joint Legislature Forum (JLF) formed by the 60 MLAs of the Nagaland legislative assembly of the previous tenure to push for the early settlement of the Naga political problem.
