N Pramod of HL honoured

Imphal, December 01, 2012: Ningombam Pramod Singh, Sub-Editor of Hueiyen Lanpao, has been honoured with the title of 'Man of the Year' by Manipur Network of Positive people (MNP+) on the occasion of World AIDS Day observance held at its Yaiskul Hiruhanba Leikai office here today.

N Pramod was chosen from among many journalists of the state for the honour in acknowledgment of his outstanding duty in highlighting issues related to Drugs and HIV/AIDS through his writings.

Speaking as Chief Guest of the observance function organized jointly by MNP+ and the Recovery Alliance, A Mobi, President, AMWJU, said that Manipur has been topping the country in the field of sports and it has been rightly pointed out that India cannot flourish in sports without Manipur.

On the other hand, Manipur is also unfortunately among the top states badly hit by the epidemic of HIV and AIDS.

Manipur, which holds only 0.3 % of the whole population of India, is contributing 17% of the whole HIV and AIDS cases in the country.

As such, the situation in the State is becoming quite alarming.

Udita Salam, General Secretary of MNP+ and Y Shashikumar, General Secretary of SASO were also present on the occasion as President and Guest of Honour respectively.
