Chandel, November 30 2016:
Lamkang Naga Kver Kunpun has urged the State government to release the UNC president Gaidon Kamei and its information secretary Sk Stephen Lamkang unconditionally.
The union in a statement said the Government must understand that the UNC leaders represent the voice of all the Nagas of Manipur.
The ongoing blockade in the 4 hill districts of Manipur is the result of the State Government's attempt to form Sadar Hills and Jiribam district by disregarding the previous Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Naga Civil Bodies, GoI and GoM.
Rather than addressing the issue democratically, the State Government arrested the Naga leaders, the union lamented.
The union further blamed the State Government of ignoring the voice of the Nagas.
Sk Stephen Lamkang is also one of the former presidents of Lamkang Kurchuknao Kunpun (LKK) and Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC).
The Government must know that the UNC is not an unlawful organisation, the statement said.
