Imphal, November 30 2015:
The Imphal Campaign World War 2 member S Misao on Monday stated that that "ISSAC Battlefield" in Motbung area was yet to be explored and it is said even the skeletal remains of the soldiers who fought in the World War 2 were still untouched.
Speaking to a group of media persons, Misao said anyone who wishes to reach the historic spot has to cross a Bailey bridge constructed over the Sekmai River in the Motbung-Dolaithabi road.
However, it was unfortunate that the bridge has now been damaged and washed away in a recent flood.
He said that if the responsible authority failed to construct the bridge, even the people residing in the area would continue to reel under immense hardships.

However, after it got damaged, the villagers constructed a make-shift bamboo bridge across the river for crossing over to the other side.
The villagers have expressed dismayed with the authorities for not taking any initiatives to reconstruct the bridge or build a news one.
He stated that the Bailey bridge is the only lifeline for over 12 villages in Sadar Hills.
Meanwhile, Thingsat Village Chief Letkholen Lotjin said that after the bridge was washed away, the villagers too had been facing untold miseries as they were not able to transport the sick, students and farmers to their destinations.
Misao during the interaction with the media persons maintained that the bridge also connected the World War 2 sot and the British had code named it "ISAAC Battlefield".
He also recalled that many British and Japanese tourists had earlier visited the site.
He mentioned that around 96 Japanese and 14 British soldiers died in the ISAAC Battlefield.
The Imphal Campaign WW2 member stated that "It has been recorded that the location of ISAAC was first occupied by battalion of Japanese 12 Division.
The 2nd Sufflock's Regiment under the 5th Indian Division was clearing the Japanese from the adjoining mountains of the Moreh-Dimapur Highway.
The ISAAC battle is closed to the Highway and it over-look both highway and the Depot at Kanglatombi" .
